I have a proud mother’s update on John Robert (JR)!
This summer, JR spent two weeks at a mini study abroad program in London, and he absolutely loved it. In fact, he loved the experience so much that he is planning to apply to study his first semester junior year in London. This would be an incredible experience for him and another wonderful opportunity to grow as an artist.
When he came home, he jumped right back into performing arts. JR choreographed two summer musicals at the New England School of Performing Arts (NESPA). First was Grease, and it was amazing to watch the kids execute his work. The photo was taken after the final performance. It was such a special moment, especially because Nanny Sasso was there to see him.
The very next day, JR helped cast the roles and began doing all the choreography for Matilda. By day, JR was teaching middle-school-aged kids. Then at night, he was rehearsing for Chicago. He was stunning, as usual. I never get tired of watching him perform. He is so talented, and I am incredibly proud of him.
Last week, JR had all four wisdom teeth removed at once! He has been living on an ice cream and soft-food diet for the past several days. He only has two weeks left to enjoy his summer break before we drive him back to Nazareth University in Rochester, NY.
JR has certainly found his love and passion in the arts. He loves to dance, sing and act and watching him pursue his dreams is one of the greatest joys of being his mom.

• Do you encourage your children to follow their dreams and pursue what they love?
Life is too short to spend it wondering, “What if?”
It is never too late to do what you love. If you have a dream, I encourage you to give it a shot. You shouldn’t have regrets. Follow your passion. Life is too short.
