Labor Day just passed, and it got me thinking about what we’re actually celebrating: the value of work, and the people behind it.
But here’s what I’ve noticed after almost 20 years of coaching: so many hardworking people don’t feel valued at all.
I see it constantly with medical device professionals. Brilliant people. People who’ve spent decades building expertise, solving hard problems, and leading teams. Somewhere along the way, they stopped believing they deserved more.

Not more for the sake of more. More recognition. More alignment with their actual worth. More of a role that fits who they’ve become.
My work isn’t just about job searching. It’s about helping someone see their own blind spots, get crystal clear on their niche, and rebuild the confidence to ask for and pursue what they actually deserve.
Because when someone finally sees their own value clearly, everything changes. How they interview. How they negotiate. How they lead.

That’s often how it starts, not when everything feels fine, but when someone finally admits they’ve been settling for less than they’re worth.
So as Labor Day fades into the rearview mirror, here’s a question worth sitting with:
When was the last time you truly felt valued for the work you do?
