We certainly did! John and I celebrated our 41st Valentine’s Day together. That number sounds so high because we dated for eight years before we were married. Valentine’s Day has always held a very special place in our hearts.
During our first three years of dating, John surprised me with a dozen long-stem red roses in year one, two dozen in year two, and three dozen in year three. After that, I told him not to spend so much money on flowers, so he began buying me jewelry instead! Two of his cousins owned jewelry stores, so I certainly didn’t mind. I was, and still am, one very lucky lady.
This year we attended a wonderful Prime Rib Valentine’s Dinner, complete with potatoes, vegetables, soup, and salad. The dessert table was overflowing with homemade cannoli, cookies, cupcakes, and even ice-cream cake. I met some lovely people, and a DJ kept the music playing all evening.
John and I spent time on the dance floor, swaying to a few slow songs and even jitterbugging to our favorite tune, “Johnny Be Good.” We still remember how to dance it just like we did at our wedding. Those dance lessons truly paid off! Did you take dance lessons for your wedding?
All in all, it was a joyful and memorable evening. I hope you enjoyed your Valentine’s Day just as much. 💕
