Transitioning Into and Within the Medical Device Industry

Have you thought about entering the medical device industry?
Are you now working in the industry and have considered moving to another company- or using your skills in an entirely new area? The medical device industry is ripe with opportunities for people who want to help bring new medical products to market. It is a diverse industry that develops and manufactures devices to diagnose or treat the spectrum of diseases and afflictions. Companies range in size from small start-ups to large corporations.

Join us for an inspiring evening to discuss transitions both into and within this exciting industry.
Our panel of industry veterans will talk about their varied experiences with transitions and provide insights to help you in your career. This session is designed for those looking to enter the medical device industry as well as medical device veterans. Historically, this is the most well-attended MDG networking event of the year, so register early.

terri_marionTerri Marion is the Medical Segment Marketing Manager for Bloomington, Illinois-based Bi-Link. Bi-Link is a global ISO-13485 certified manufacturing company offering a full-range of capabilities including open innovation, prototyping, injection molding, metal stamping, and assembly services to the Automotive, Wireless, Medical and Consumer industries. A dual-degreed engineer, Terri began her career with Ford Motor Company as a Design Release Engineer, and she spent the next 20+ years in the Automotive industry holding progressively key positions in Product Engineering, Operations, and Marketing. In 2010, she leveraged her unique combination of technical and business skills, along with extensive global cross-functional leadership experience, to reinvent herself in the medical device industry.
art_combs_mdArt Combs, MD, is a physician executive and serial entrepreneur. He has served as an EVP for a Fortune 500 company and as an officer of 3 medical device start-ups, most recently as CEO of Grove Instruments, Inc. The concentration of his work has been in breakthrough noninvasive medical devices. More than half a dozen unique medical devices have been brought to market under his leadership. Two of his start-up companies had successful M&A exists, and the third and a [fourth] spinout remain in business today. Art's focus is identifying important unmet needs, seeking unique technological and clinically meaningful solutions that enable feasible business models and value creation opportunities.
arnie_feinbergArnie Feinberg graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, MA with a BSME and has been a product design engineer and consultant for over 30 years. A versatile engineer that is experienced in new product design, prototype design, bench top molding, value added design, product testing, troubleshooting, and sustaining engineering. His product background includes infusion catheters, surgical instruments, switches, connectors, personal safety products, cable assemblies, value add designs, electro-mechanical devices, high and low volume production. Knowledge of plastic molded parts (thermoplastic and thermoset), bench top molds, metal stampings, die castings, sand castings, machined components, sheet metal, screw machined parts, plating, powder coating, and ultrasonic welding. Worked with Vascular Insights, Davol Inc, Holmed Inc, Honeywell, Hypertronics, Augat, C&K Components, and Herbst Lazar Bell. He holds 4 patents.

Lisa Sasso is a past President of MDG and currently serves on its board. She is also President & Executive Coach at Medical Development Partners, Inc. (2005-present) and Past Co-Founder, President/CEO of Radi Medical Systems, Inc. (1998-2004). As President/CEO of Radi Inc., she grew the company from inception to revenues of $28M with profitability. Currently, as an Executive Coach, Lisa empowers Medical Device leaders and executives to embrace their passion and achieve their personal and professional goals with confidence, accountability and balance. Lisa was recognized and ranked #28 out of 100 women-led businesses in Massachusetts in 2004. She received a BBA in marketing and a BA in economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Her MBA is from Bentley University where she graduated with honors.
